Municipal plans Valencia city for the next 10 years

Municipal plans Valencia city

Valencia is the ideal city for us! It has the history, the architecture, the restaurants, the parks, the beach, and all that combined with the perfect weather. Could it get any better, you might think? If we are to believe the municipality’s plans: definitely! More greenery, better connections between neighborhoods and more space for relaxing. See what municipal plans for Valencia City we can expect in the next 10 years.

Areas to invest in in Valencia

Besides the fact that it is interesting to know what is changing in Valencia, this information is of course essential when you want to buy a house in Valencia. Some neighborhoods are becoming more attractive to live in, while there may not be so much demand there now. Ideal if you want to invest in Valencia, whether it is from medium to long-term rentals, or as a (second) home for yourself.

Urban projects Valencia city

What will Valencia city look like in 10 years? Of course, everything is subject to change, but these are the plans for the city as they stand today. We have selected the most important changes that will really boost certain neighborhoods and simply make the city even more enjoyable. We will also mention the neighborhoods that will be positively impacted.

1. Expanding Parc Central and hide train track.

We begin with a plan that we also often communicate to our clients: the railroad lines between the Estacion del Nord and Joaquin Sorolla train stations will run through a tunnel underground. The space that will become available will be used to double the already beautiful Parc Central. A very interesting development because then the neighborhoods of Ruzafa, Arrancapins, Malilla and En Corts will have a much easier connection. Currently, to get from one neighborhood to another you still have to use a long pedestrian tunnel or pedestrian bridge, with this modification you can now go through a beautiful park. Sounds a little more appealing, right?

2. Upgrade for town hall square Plaza del Ayuntamiento

The Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the central square in the city and an important landmark in Valencia. Since it has been made car-free, this place has become even more atmospheric and a place where people rest, walk, photograph, eat an ice cream and all with the imposing city hall as a backdrop. Yet it could be even more beautiful, Valencia’s municipality thought, as the square is getting an upgrade. There will be a larger green area and the famous fountain will become a sort of beach where you can rest. A nice improvement for the Sant Francesc neighborhood and actually the entire Ciutat Vella district.

3. Extension of Turia park

The Turia Park is already almost 10 kilometers long, but it could be longer! Anyone who has ever wanted to bike or walk from the Turia Park to the sea has probably seen it: the park suddenly stops. This project will extend the park to the sea, so from then on you can actually bike or walk all the way through the park to the coast. This will give the neighborhoods of El Grau and Nazaret, part of the Poblats Maritims district, a better connection. In addition, new properties will also be built in this project.

4. Two new stadiums for sports and culture

CF Valencia‘s new soccer stadium is a long-running project that has been on hold for a long time, but there is now serious talk of picking up construction. One of the motivations here is being able to host the World Cup in 2030. ‘Nou Mestalla,’ as the stadium is called, would have a capacity of 70,000 visitors and is located in the Campanar district.

One stadium that is sure to open soon is the Roig Arena, founded by the director of supermarket chain Mercadona, Juan Roig Alfonso. The Roig Arena will be the home of Valencia’s basketball club and will further become a multipurpose venue for sports, as well as for events in the cultural sector, including concerts, theater and more. There will also be an area with restaurants and terraces. The building is located in the Quatre Carreres district, bordering the La Punta neighborhood. Construction work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

5. Wine area turns to residential area near Patacona beach

Alboraya, the village to which the cozy Patacona beach belongs, is getting a major upgrade on the site of the old Vinival wineries. This new neighborhood near Patacona beach will feature houses surrounded by 4,000 square meters of urban gardens and fruit trees, plus 16,000 square meters of gardens with local plants. The project also includes the renovation of the iconic building where wine production used to take place.
