Frequently Asked Questions About Valencia

The climate in Spain varies greatly depending on the region. In general, Spain has a Mediterranean climate with dry, hot summers and mild winters, but there are also areas with a continental climate and areas with a maritime climate.

During the summer months, temperatures in Spain can rise sharply, especially inland. It is usually a bit cooler on the coast and there is often a breeze. In winter it is generally mild with temperatures around 15-18°C, except in the mountains where it can get colder and even snow.

On our Climate in Valencia page you can read more about the climates in the various Spanish regions.

  • Soccer, with some important clubs such as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona and a successful national football team (known as ‘La Roja’).
  • Siesta, the ‘lunch break’. Although it is becoming less and less common in major cities, you will see that many businesses and shops still close their doors between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
